This train always reaches Wadi before time irrespective of the delay at Secunderabad.
The crew takes it's own time in changing at Secunderabad and the train sometimes halts at Secunderabad for around 1 hour.
Quite many berths get vacated at Pune and passengers with general tickets board at Pune for travelling to Mumbai.
The food is good especially the Egg curry meals...

It's even a good option for travelling to Pune from Secunderabad as the journey is covered during daytime and you reach Pune on schedule.

Whenever I travel to Mumbai, I take Konark as it drops you at Dadar early morning and I can easily take locals towards Borivali without much crowd to handle.

If you want to save time for SC to Mumbai journey, take Shatabdi from SC to PUNE and then take this train from PUNE to MUMBAI. Confirmed seats/berths will also be available in this combo.
The otion that you have provided I normally avail it, but better if we can get berth in Hussainsagar Express.
What if the Shatabdi gets delayed & Konark reaches Pune before the Shatabdi?
There are other options too from Pune to CSTM but IMO Hussain Sagar is the best option.

The coach no 99067 seems to have returned from maintenance in June 2014. In just 5 months sorry to see the taps in the basin are not working . the flushing knob in the bath room is broken. The vinyl sheet on the floor is peeled off. And the next time the coach is scheduled to go for maintenance is Jan 2016. Imagine the condition then. Omg.
Konark exp is the oldest train connecting Mumbai to Bbsr. Yet it is the so called express trains which virtually stops at all stations and takes 37 hours to reach Mumbai.hope the rly authorities will consider upgrading this train to a super fast train.
