Kalka Shatabdi is generally a punctual train, speaking from personal experience. Barring any unfortunate circumstances, this is a safe chain...
As an alternative, I'd suggest you to book in 12350 Godda Humsafar in NDLS-AHA and deboard at Gaya. It still has plenty of seats available and atleast you'll have an assurance of confirmed seats.

12565 to ndls then 12011 upto cdg then return ndls in 12926 then return to my hometown bls in 22824 evening 5pm. Paschim express and bbs rajdhani dono me sirf 40 min difference hai. Risky hoga kya ye ? Plz do comment
