Its the nearest railhead from Nainital hill station.
You can alight here and pre-book a cab ahead of arrival or even after alighting outside many vehicles would be there for nainital.
The main highway lifeline NH 87 from the plains to kumaun-garhwal goes just outside the station.
Tourist coming by rail mode can take Taxi or Buses from Kathgodam or Haldwani.

are available on shared seat basis at Taxi stand & as well as at Kathgodam, Haldwani & Lalkuan railway stations.
While most of the buses start from Haldwani roadways bus stand.
So if needed a cheap and adventure journey, then alight train at Haldwani station and board state transport bus for nainital. ;)
Total distance from Kathgodam to Nainital is 35 km and from Haldwani to Nainital 41 km.

If you are planning to visit Nainital and do NOT have a pre-booked accommodation, it is strongly advised to take Ranikhet Express instead of Shatabdi Express.
The reason is that the check-out time of most hotels is 10:00 AM and getting a room at decent tariffs is easier if you reach by 9 AM or something.
