Hubballi: A.K. Rai, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bengaluru conducted a statutory inspection of Unkal – Hulkoti Railway Electrification work today.  The 47 Route KM length of Unkal- Hulkoti Railway Electrification is a part of the Hosapete-Hubballi-Londa-Vasco Da Gama Electrification project.  It is being executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL)
A.K. Rai inspected the Electrified section and checked various safety parameters.  He inspected Unkal, SSS Hubballi, Kusugal, Hebsur, Sisvinahalli, Navalgund and Annigeri stations. He inspected Foot Over Bridges, Road Over Bridge, Level Crossing gates, major and minor bridges, curves in the section.
He also inspected Sectioning Post (SP) at Sisvinahalli and Sub sectioning and Paralleling Posts (SSPs) at Kusugal and Annigeri.  A short circuit test was conducted at Hulkoti. Later a Speed Trial with Electric Loco was conducted from Hulkoti to Unkal.
Arvind Malkhede, Hubballi Divisional Railway Manager; Manoj Mahajan, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer; Dinesh Jain, General Manager, RVNL; Srinivasulu, Joint General Manager/RVNL, and other officers were present.
Electrification will significantly improve the mobility of trains on SWR and strengthen the Rail network in Karnataka.  In addition to the reduction in pollution, the efficiency of Railway will improve due to shift from fossil fuel to electricity.

Hubballi: The road under bridge at Unkal Railway Station was opened by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.The 33.66-meter-long, 7.5-meter-wide, and 4.5-meter-high RUB cost Rs 5.4 crores to build.At the ceremony, a 65-meter-long concrete road linking Unkal and Shridi Nagar was also opened.This road and RUB will improve connectivity between Rajnagar, Shirdi Nagar, Patrakartar Nagar, and Unkal, as well as minimize vehicle traffic in the Unkal region. 
Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti, South Western Railway General Manager Sanjeev Kishore, Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi division Arvind Malkhede, corporators Tippanna Majjagi, Rajanna Koravi, and others were present.

As part of Hosapete - Tinaighat - Vasco-da-gama doubling, the railway track between twin cities - Hubballi and Dharwad is being doubled. Doubling of track in the stretch between Dharwad - Navalur - Unkal (17 Km) was completed last month and the remaining work between Unkal and Hubballi (4 Km) is in progress.
Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR inspected the progress of doubling works by foot from Unkal to Hubballi.

o­n priority. Road Under bridge being constructed near Sri Krishna Kalyan Mantapa was inspected. Progress of this work is as per the timeline and it is targeted to be completed by end of Dec. 2020.
Work o­n the progress of work in Hubballi Yard was also inspected. GM instructed that during linking of track in Hubballi Yard, care should be taken to relax speed restrictions from Gadag main line and if possible from Bengaluru main line. The work of doubling Hubballi West to Hubballi involves Hubballi yard remodeling in which the world's longest platform is coming up at Hubballi and same is expected to commissioned early next year.
Shri Singh informed that work was progressing satisfactorily and instructed officials to complete all the works within the time frame. The work is being under taken by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd.. Shri Chandrashekar, GM/RVNL, Shri Viswas Kumar, ADRM/O Hubballi and branch officers of Hubballi Division accompanied GM/SWR for the inspection.
