The Kolkata Metro Railways is IR's 17th Zonal Railways organization. By what time do you think the Kolkata Metro will be able to complete and start the New Garia - Salt Lake Sector 5 - Rajarhat New Town - Airport Link ?

This route will be useful for IT Professionals to travel from South Kolkata (Parnasaree, Taratala, New Alipore, Tollygunje, Bansdroni, New Garia, etc.) to satellite townships' IT Hubs like Salt Lake Sector - 5 and Rajarhat New Town Action Area - 1, 2 and probably 3 too.
.
Recent news reports suggest that Infosys is interested to set up its Kolkata Campus in New Town Action Area 3 plot. At the moment, there's only 1 AC Bus of Route AC4A run by the WBTC (CSTC Wing) that connects South Kolkata's Parnasree to Sapoorji Estate in Action Area - 3. But this

last Sapoorji Bus Terminal also seems to be quite distant from the Chotto Chandpur Area where Infosys may set up its building. At the moment, the transport connectivity between New Town's Action Areas and South Kolkata is very poor !!!

The photo shared above is that of the Howrah Junction Railway Station Bus Stand. It can be seen from the photo that many Private Buses (Including Mini Buses) depart and arrive from various locations of Calcutta (Kolkata) city. I am not much sure whether the CSTC (Calcutta State Transport Corporation) Buses also start from this stand or not.
.
Private Buses of Route No 37 start from Howrah and proceed towards Dhakuria (A prominent South Calcutta Location). The Route of this bus is Howrah - Burrabazaar - Esplanade - Fort William - Kidderpore

- Taratalla - New Alipore - Tollygunge Phari - Lake Gardens - Jadavpur PS - Dhakuria
.
The Mini Buses like Baishnabghata - Howrah Maidan and Garia Staton - Howrah Maidan are viewed to be faster options to Howrah Station than the 37 No. Bus!!!

Blast from the Past
The cyclone 'Aila' was one of the most devastating storms that ever hit Bengal. It hit Sundarban and Kolkata on May, 2009. Many people became homeless, many died. All sort of communications were stalled for a long time period. Electricity: From domestic to IR. Train service was at halt for a long time.
Here I had captured a small bit of devastation that occurred. People had to walk on railway track as there was no train to get them home. Posting this after almost 6 years.
