The Platform No. 1 is being elongated as to be able to incorporate long trains. Presently Platform No. 2 is the main Platform and trains are always placed in Platform No. 2 if it is empty. Trains are placed in Platform No. 1 only when Platform No. 2 is occupied. The length of both platforms are currently are such as to incorporate engine + 13 coaches of a passenger train. So when longer trains halt here, all the coaches after 13 coaches remain out of platform. Platform No. 2 has crossings to other lines on both the Eastern as well as Western sides and the Platform has already been extended to the maximum possible length.
