with 22 stations, including a connection to the Airport Line. The second corridor, covering 12.5 km from Hosahalli to Kadabgere on Magadi Road, will have nine stations. The state government has authorized the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to initiate tendering for the project. However, the inclusion of double-decker flyovers in all upcoming metro projects proposed by the state is delaying progress. The project is expected to carry 9.12 lakh passengers daily by 2051 and has a 5.5-year deadline from the date of sanction. The revised project cost was approved on March 14th, setting a 2028 deadline. Bengaluru currently has the second longest operational metro network in India, spanning 73.81 kilometers, with two operational corridors: the East-West Corridor (43.49 kilometers) and the North-South Corridor (30.32 kilometers).
