Mumbai local train: Now, passengers with long-distance rail ticket can travel

Starting Thursday, passengers with confirmed tickets for outstation trains can buy non-return local train tickets in Mumbai. Local train services, Mumbai's lifeline, had been restricted since March due to the pandemic, only allowing essential workers. The Maharashtra government plans to open local trains to all commuters in early January. The network currently operates at 45% capacity, with essential workers allowed entry via ID cards and QR code verification at stations.
