KR is single with 120 kmph operations for years.
With proper distant signaling I can't see why that won't be possible on single line.
I suspect terrain will be more of a spoilsport rather than it being single line.
That, and IR'S laziness :p

Tejas in Karanjadi-Karmali section was clear to do 120 as it is double distant.
Previously, madgaon janashtabdi with old SG coaches (2003 made) had clearance for 120, as was TVC raj, but the loco of TVC raj (EMD) and coaches of madgaon janashtabdi had changed leading to no permit to do 120. Let's see whether electrification and new LHB coaches changes it!

Distant signal is like wifi repeater.
A wifi repeater doesn't have a 'signal' of it's own, it can only take the signal coming from router, amplify it, and then transmit the signal over a larger area of home/office
The same is true for distant signal. It doesn't 'guard' a section, like main signal does. What it does is repeat the aspect of signal ahead of it. Distant signals are placed at a distance of 1 km before main signal, and the aspect is based on signal ahead of it. By this you get...
