I strongly believe i haven't said anything demeaning to Katihar. Malda, being a city of Bengal, has high demand for it's state capital Kolkata. That capital city factor doesn't exist for Katihar. Pick up any train on the Malda-Kolkata sector, including trains like Njp shatabdi and Njp VB and u will find Malda gives the 2nd highest number after NJP on this route. I dont, and haven't either, claim the same for other routes like Delhi or Mumbai or some other city but for Kolkata, yes Malda have a bigger demand for sure.

more... overnight trains. Only a few routes are there in Bihar-Kolkata section that can fillup a complete VB. Even Kir-Koaa VB wont fillup completely fs.

Now, about your second point, I hear you, Hatey Bazare and Jogbani are poppin' from Katihar for sure. That's why I mentioned earlier that Bihar-Kolkata route is all about them overnight trains. There are only a few routes in that section that can fill up a whole VB. Even Kir-Koaa VB won't be maxed out, to be honest.
