One of the Multi-Genset sensations of Indian Railways, WDM 2G # 80001, with an uncertain fate ahead, lying dead in yard premises. The loco now belongs to DLS Vatva (VTA) but carries the markings the markings of its previous shed, DLS Itarsi (ET). Also giving it company are its sibling WDM 2G # 80000 & shunter cousin WDS 6G # 80002 (to be covered in a later post).

more... Co-Co (6-axle) wheel arrangement & 3 prime movers (Cummins QSK-19, 6 cylinder, 4-stroke) unlike other diesel locomotives of IR which make use of only 1 prime mover. Each engine has a output of 800 HP which results in a combined output of 2400 HP. Most of the components like brakes (IRAB-1), traction rectifier, auxiliary power supply, etc have been supplied by Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd.
The unique features of these locomotives include their cab design inspired by American EMDs as well as the very first use of K3LA multi chime horn in India.
Despite, their fuel efficiency & less emission rate, the production stopped due to their very low power output.
