more... 25th September, 2018 at Electrical Traction Training Centre (ETTC), Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada. Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Hyderabad Divisions also attended the meeting.
Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav welcomed the dignitaries and briefed them on the performance of South Central Railway and various steps initiated for development of Infrastructure facilities and improvement of the passenger amenities on the Zone. Appreciating the efforts of Zonal administration with regard to developmental works, Hon’ble Members of Parliament submitted a collective representation to the General Manager on the demand for creation of new Zone for Andhra Pradesh State. Dr. P. Ravindra Babu, Hon’ble MP, Amalapuram; Shri M. Srinivasa Rao, Hon’ble MP, Anakapalle; Shri Malyadri Sriram, Hon’ble MP, Bapatla, Shri Magantti Venkateshwara Rao, Hon’ble MP, Eluru; Shri Nimmala Krishtappa, Hon’ble MP, Hindupur; Shri Konakalla Narayana Rao, Hon’ble MP, Machilipatnam; Shri S.P.Y.Reddy, Hon’ble MP, Nandyal, Shri Maganti Murali Mohan, Hon’ble MP, Rajahmundry, Smt Butta Renuka, Hon’ble MP, Kurnool, Shri Kesineni Srinivas, Hon’ble MP, Vijayawada, Smt Thota Seetharama Lakshmi, Hon’ble MP ((Rajya Sabha) and Shri Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha) were present in the meeting.
Later, speaking to the media personnel, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, SCR briefed on the achievements and performance of the Zone. He stated that all the infrastructure development projects situated in the state of Andhra Pradesh are progressing well with the active co-operation of the State Government. He informed that Tirupati Railway Station is scheduled for redevelopment with an expenditure of Rs. 400 cr and the bids are going to be opened today i.e., 25th September, 2018. Tirupati Railway Station redevelopment includes World Class Passenger amenities including an eight storied budget hotel in the railway premises. Along with Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Kurnool City Stations are scheduled for redevelopment which will completed by March, 2019. SCR is also firm on taking up for provision of all Passenger amenities at all stations. Guntur-Guntakal Electrification work is completed and doubling works are in progress. Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam tripling works are also in progress a stretch of 42 kms new line section will be commissioned very soon in the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti new line project. Obulavaripalli – Krishnapatnam new line will be completed. South Central Railway has completed a record of 608 kms of electrification in the previous financial year and planning to electrify 600 kms electrification in the current financial year. Entire Zone is planned to be electrified in the next two years. Detailed estimations on Amaravati connectivity were sent to Railway Board and the Zone is expecting sanction for the same, he added.
