* Saturated lines are a matter of concern and building pressure for doubling is right step. But complain about the negligence of Assam by IR in comparison to other states is not justified. Assam is relatively a small state with small population, gives a paltry revenue and in return receive a lions share (probably the highest) of funds.
* In fact Assam had been amongst the pampered states in the name of NE regional development. Atleast 10% of the IR funds had been allocated NE region, and Assam, which is the most developed state of NE India used to get lions's share, and the more deserving smaller states often got lesser.

more... New Bongaigaon-Rangia-Agyathuri-Kamakhya and New Bongaigaon-Goalpara-Kamakhya both are already sanctioned doubling projects and included in pink book. The route via Goalpara had been given higher priority and Rs 250 Crores had been allocated for 2017-18. In fact Doubling of Malda-NewJalpaiguri-NewBongaigoan-Guwahati had been in progress since long from Malda end and a good kilometerage has been doubled. Full doubling shall take time.
