Yes u r right....all WCAM-1 (Except 10-15 starting models)....Was converted to work in Pure AC working only....
Before ac'fication of WR I.e, before February 2012 also...some WCAM-1 were converted to work in AC working only...and remaining were Converted to Pure AC working till Mid of 2013
Just two WCAM-1 #21851 & #21852 was left working on both DC-AC power and the reason was for the PUNE bound train....but as all WCAM-2 were transferred from BL to KYN... WCAM-2 started hauling trains from PUNE...and that ends the journey of WCAM-1 from PUNE.
Then...
more... Slowly Slowly Due to its overage & Maintenance Problem....the old one started to be withdrawn.....I guess till May 2014 Around 14 WCAM-1 was left on WR which was used to haul only passenger(local) train.....BL ELS had asked KYN ELS for transferring WCAM-1 locos with WCAM-2 but KYN had refused for WCAM-1 coz they was overaged.
All duties of WCAM-1 was handed to newly BRC WAP-5 and existing WAP-4...
One must not forgot the contribution of BRC WAM-4 also.....they are older than WCAM-1 and with AC'fication...they were also withdrawn....
And as of 01 JUNE 2015 all WCAM-1 are withdrawn from the services....and only 3 WAM-4 are left with BRC.
All WCAM-1 were lastly POH'ed in 2006-2007 and the remaining last two #21851 & #21852 was POH'ed in 2009.....if they had again POH'ed them...then there were chances of more life to it....but unfortunately...they were the unwanted locomotives on WR after Ac'fication....so they was degraded.......bitter truth..
It was the sad end of WCAM-1 locomotives who had served WR for approx 40 years...with least failure.....once WR was incomplete without it....:)
