Why is this such a slow train? It takes 6hrs more than Trivandrum rajdhani (ERN-NZM). It's average speed is 66 kmph, whereas Trivandrum rajdhani's is 80 kmph. What is the point in putting duronto in the category of rajdhanis

your logic is agreeable.. But Delhi Howrah duronto takes same time as rajdhanis and it has sleeper coaches too! It takes just 17hrs for 1441km. Average speed is 85 kmph (ERN duronto avge speed is 66kmph) That means Indian railways has sleeper duronto coaches which can travel at 130 kmph

Also, mangalore mumbai express on konkan route travels at avge speed of 83 kmph. It is the fastest express train in India (excluding rajdni shatabdi n duronto). It also has sleeper coaches

is it! I'm shocked.. I had thought trains travel very fast (avge 80kmph+) in konkan railway (as per time table).. Mangalore Mumbai exp takes just 4.5hrs upto madgaon (430km). Roha wouldn't hav come yet (roha is after madgaon). How's this possible?

yes. The distances are 1.4 times the actual distances. This is done in order to recover construction cost of konkan railways. So speeds come down to avge of 60kmph on konkan route.. Give google search as 'chargeable distance konkan railway' and follow the links for detailed info

What is the maximum speed at which this train travels? Curious to know. Because I had travelled in yuva exp, which was touching 135 kmph

Re# 124168-11
this is how I calculated speed in yuva express:
1) I saw the kilometer reading on OHE pole. For example, 135/4
2) I measured the time time it takes to reach the next exact kilometer, i.e. 136/4. Accurate measurement is made easy using stop watch in mobile phone.
3) If time taken was 'x' seconds, then the speed is 3600/x kmph.

my measurement on yuva, it took 26.9 seconds to travel 1km. So, speed was 3600/26.9 = 134kmph

according to my analysis, usually max speed is around 40 kmph more than average speed. For ex, sbc-mas shatabdi has max of 110kmph, and average speed is 70kmph. The difference increases if stops are more.
So, if duronto's average speed frm Delhi to Kanpur is 100kmph, then he must be touching a max of 140kmph. What do you say?

If Bhopal shatabdi can touch 150kmph, then why not duronto?

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
