Amazingly almost 30 minutes before time running 12342 Asansol (ASN)- Howrah (HWH) AGNIVEENA Superfast Express headed by off-link brand new 30308 WAP- 7 of HWH shed blasts past Begumpur station on HB Chord enroute at its MPS of 110 km/hr. Even being half an hour before time,...
more... the LP was quite determined not to lose the momentum, as it was given a chase by the late running 13006 Amritsar (ASR)- Howrah (HWH) PUNJAB Mail, 14117 Jabalpur (JBP)- Howrah (HWH) SHAKTIPUNJ Express and 12346 Guwahati (GHY)- Howrah (HWH) SARAIGHAT Superfast Express.
AGNIVEENA Express was formerly knows as BIDHAN Express, and was named after Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, and served the state for 14 years till his death. The regular link of this train is a HWH WAP-4, and it follows the Asansol- Durgapur- Burdwan- Howrah route of ER to cover a mere 200 kms in 3 hours, averaging 61 km/hr. This train has an extremely high patronage, and gets extremely high priority on the route. In between Burdwan and Howrah, trains like Indore BG (INDB)- Howrah (HWH) SHIPRA Express, Kalka (KLK)- Howrah (HWH) Superfast Mail and other Expresses are forced to give way to this train.
Just the day before this video was taken, Howrah (HWH)- Kalka (KLK) Superfast Mail departed from HWH with this loco, namely 30308 HWH WAP- 7 at sharp 19:40. But at Asansol, the loco started to malfunction. So the loco was detached, and a WAP- 4 (resting at ASN's ELS) was given the duty to haul the Mail for the rest of its journey. And this WAP- 7 was repaired at the ELS throughout the night, and was being send back to HWH's ELS with this AGNIVEENA Express. So this was the mystry behind this train getting this off-link.
