Got a chance to travel by Bengalure-Chennai intercity express last Saturday. I had no complaints regarding punctuality of this train since i reached my destination on time. The condition of AC chair car( C2 coach) was the worst i have seen. It was a very old coach with blue seats. Water was leaking from overhead ac vents and cooling was very poor. To make matters worse, vendors keep pouring in every minute closing/opening the door which further affected the cooling. I was sweating inside the chair car. No wonder why railway is loosing business to Volvo in Chn-sbc sector. The only saving grace on the journey was food. On the contrary to the opinion about food being average on SF express, i found it to be good and very economical. 3 idilis & one vada costed 30 rs. A plate of tomato rice was priced at 30 rs. Taste...

was not bad at all. While alighting, i noticed that C1 coach was much better looking coach with those brown seats. If someone is planning to travel on this train, please pay a few hundreds extra an opt for Shatabdi instead. Even Volvo isn't a bad option.

Thank a lot for replying to my post sir.
I need to travel on SBC-MAS route at least twice a month to meet my family back in Chennai. I was hoping that all the trains on this route will be good due to excellent patronage however after seeing the condition of the Chair car, my expectations from Indian railways has taken a beating. If chair car is so bad, I shudder to think how regular 2S coaches would be. Also came across a few reports on this site that talks about unreserved passengers swarming reserved 2s coaches in Intercity/lalbagh. Do you know whether the situation has improved in 2s coaches?

Shatabdi, agreed it is a very good train but the breakfast they serve is horrible and moreover, Shatabdi doesn't stop in KJM which makes it difficult for folks like us who need to travel to Whitefield/Marthahalli side. I hope IR adds a KJM stop for Shatabdi.

Got a chance to travel by DD last Friday. Seat allocated to me was a lower deck window seat. I was very anxious regarding DD since i came across lot of complaints about cramped seats . I'm 5 feet 11 big guy. I found that leg room even on the lower deck area was not as bad as people made it sound like. Seats on this train was much better than Spicejet & Indigo economy seats. Yes, i have to agree that seats were a bit narrow and hard. I wish railways added some cushion to soften the seat. Only complaint regarding this train was the overheated luggage bin. It wasn't big enough to take my medium size bag in there. I loved the ride quality of DD. DD felt more planted and less jerky than Shatabdi express. The good thing about this train was consistent speed. I fired up my...

GPS speed on few occasions and on all occasions train was cruising at 98-102 kmph. Even 100 Kmph on this train fees like 70 Kmph due to low NVH levels. BTW, occupancy rates were poor. There were about 40 vacant seats in my coach.

Please be informed that C2 coach on this train is a very old coach with very poor cooling. There is hardly any charging ports. C1 coach is much better.

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
