it seems you have not travelled in a train w/o pantry car for a long time. even though some trains have the problem of unauthorised vendors, but pantry service refers to provison of tea/coffee/snacks and booking/delivery of lunch/dinner at suitable timings. Most of trains like janshatabdi, GR etc have these staff (Contractors of IRCTC) wearing uniforms and serving with tea or cold drinks, chips, biscuit etc. This systems is pantry service.
Pantry car is totally differnt where a coach is attached.
apart from making fresh cutlets, omelettes, tea, coffee...
more... etc in pantry cars, there is not much diff in pantry service and pantry car. Even with pantry car facility, lunch/dinner would be taken from base kitchen in many trains.
People always expect a pantry car when pantry is referred. you can suggest a better term for referring to services provided by irctc contractors in most trains. i have experienced this pantry service often and quite ok with it.
give an alternative term for this pantry service and we can refer to that. thnk over and give suggestions. thanks.
