subject quoted above.
2. Instances have been brought t6 the notice of this office by a zonal
Railwa~c.regarding inconvenience faced by them in this regard on following
account:
(i) Some photo identity cards issued by State Government for their
employees do not contain any number for capturing the same in the
system. When these are rejected by the ECRC at the booking counter,
the sameresultsin complaints.
(ii) In some of the ration cards issued by the State Governments, the
photograph of the head of the family is only available and not of all the
family members. Therefore, in the absence of the photograph of the
passenger performing the journey, this being accepted as a proof of
identity af the time of booking Tatkal ticket. This also resulted in
complaints.
3. The matter was examined and it has been decided as under:
(i) Only those photo identity cards issued by Central/State Government
should be accepted which are having serial number.
(ii) Ration card should be accepted as proof of identity for undertaking
journey under Tatkal scheme only if the passenger whose photograph is
available on the ration card is travelling.
3.1 The above said clarifications are also applicable in case of proofs of
identity acceptable for undertaking journey on e-tickets.
