16515 is at present last connection between MAJN & KAWR before Daylight fades...
Following trains run towards UD,KAWR before 16515 :
12134 MAJN - CSTM SF departs at 13:55
12620 MAQ - LTT SF departs at 14:35
70106...
more... MAQ - MAO DEMU departs at 15:00
If KAWR ICE is Excluded, Next train towards North will be 12617 ERS - NZM SF departing MAJN at 21:45.
Actually once i had missed DEMU at MAQ by mins & had to go back to MAJN by bus & had to wait for 16515, I got to knew much useful it is.
The main reasons for low patronage & Cancellation accordingly as below -
1) SR sends late to KR by atleast 10 mins (most of the times), even Early arrival.
2) Once it enters KR, it faces lot of crossings (16524,56641,22635 dailies & 22475 weekly). KR gives very low priority, making it wait for crossings.
3) After 22635, KR dispatches Freights whatever that were struck near MAO, due to empty path after 22635. This Freights with low MPS, enjoy Main line, making 16515 to loop & wait.
4) It arrives KAWR most of the times late. Now rake stays overnight till morning, This either blocks Mainline or PF2, Hence Space constraints at KAWR, KR is also not interested.
Irony is KR, adds loops at Sawantwadi Road, but not in KAWR, Even PF2, FOB was recent build (5-6 years back).
