Much good was not expected for this train, but such an extreme failure was also not suspected.
In contrast, Mumbai-HWH fully ac Superdeluxe express (17-18 coaches) was fully occupied on its inagural run about 2 decases ago!!
End result is- A premium slot in the super congested and highly profitable MUM-HWH route is getting wasted....

Mahamana type train instead of Antyoday could have served the purpose of RM, IR, as well as public.

Antyodaya is all GN coach train with improved & more esthetic LHB coaches and 10-15% extra fare. Long distance unreserved premium super duper fast train is basically not a good concept. A long distance passenger ready to pay more shall first prefer to have a reserved berth rather than other facilities/ aesthetics.

A train with GN+SL+ACIII+ACII with improved & more esthetic LHB coaches (better upto HWH) and 10-15% extra fare., could have resulted in almost full occupancy.

On what basis Antyoday was started on the route? Was there any study/ market demand survey/ data in support of this train??
