Though it comes quite close to being square, the Nagpur crossing too is technically a diamond crossing ( the rails are not exactly at 90 degrees to each other). In addition, it is what is known as a one-way diamond crossing. The main line towards Gondia, does not have any gap in the rails, as is normally expected at diamond crossings. The freight yard line, run slightly elevated over the main line with a gap in it's rails. This allows the main line traffic to move at faster speeds over the crossing.
