Quite interesting! But there are quite a lot of stations whose codes inexplicably end in 'X','Z','F' or 'Q'. Most of these stations probably got these letters as a filler as other alternatives were filled up. Like Kavali ( KVZ), Chirala ( CLX), Charlapalli ( CHZ), Tadipatri ( TU) , Tandavapura ( TXR) etc.
Kadapa is an exception though. It was spelled as Cuddapah until the early 2000's. Even the railway staff there had no clue as to why the station has the code 'HX'. An RTI by some member earlier also received a negative response that the authorities had no information on this!

more... On a side note, this could be a good thread to compile a list of stations and codes that look severely mismatched!
please wait...Translate to EnglishDamn, this is really interesting! But, there are loads of stations that have the letters 'X', 'Z', 'F', or 'Q' at the end of their codes for no reason. Most of these stations got those letters cuz other codes were already taken. Like for example, Kavali (KVZ), Chirala (CLX), Charlapalli (CHZ), Tadipatri (TU) , Tandavapura (TXR)....you get the idea.
Kadapa is different though. It used to be spelled as "Cuddapah" until the early 2000s. Even the folks working at the station have no idea why it's code is 'HX'. Some dude tried to find out using RTI, but no one had any info!
BTW, this could be a dope thread to compile a list of stations with codes that just don't match!
