Honest, law abiding and tax paying citizens denied the due facilities from Govt in return, and land encroachers not paying any tax are pampered as vote banks, and are ruling the roost.

Encroachers get free slumland/house while most of honest taxpayersin big cities live in a rented house. The cost of the encroached land is often much more than the total assets of avg low income or middle class citizens who abide the law and does not encroach any vacant land.

Slum dwellers get almost free/ highly subsidized electricity/ water etc from govt bodies. Where as others (the honest citizens) with hand to mouth existence, without any owned property and paying house rent to landlord pay full rate.

A fraction of slum dwellers cause law and order problems in the area with children engaging in stone pelting at commuters and grownups stealing/damaging Rly properties

Rly operations are badly affected, as severe speed restrictions are imposed due to slums extending perilously close to tracks, laying additional lines become impossible as the land adjacent to existing tracks gets encroached. Commuters does not get the facilities they rightfully deserve.

Encroaching a piece of land is a theft or crime. And person occupying an encroached land for long period like 10-15 years gets legal rights over the land. It is ridiculous and is just a way to giving political patronage to the law breakers who are considered as vote banks. Time cannot absolve one of sins/crimes committed in past. By the same logic, one should not be charged for murder if not caught within 10-15 years after committing a murder. A thief/ decoit should not be jailed and punished for theft/loot committed 10-15 years back. A person who have not paid a 1000/- Rs. as tax to Govt 10 years back, is made to pay tax with penal rate of interest when caught. Then why land encroachers are pampered and not even asked to vacate the land leave aside paying the penalty of illegally occupying a land for a long period?

Our Laws and its implementation are far from just, and any correction appears almost impossible today, on the contrary the situation is practically deteriorating day by day. We are fast heading for mobocracy where justice is losing its relevance. There are many incentives for the law breakers and hardly any motivation to law abiders.
