Amaravati express used to run as a 18 coacher from Howrah and then 4 slip coaches used to get added at GTL and then it moved to VSG as a 22 coach train but recently all trains in Braganza Ghats reduced to 20 coachers so I guess these two are the coaches of Amaravati which get detached at GTL so rake length decrease to 16 coaches and after slip addition its still 20. I guess this is going to continue for a long time as SWR and RB care less about this section of Goa.
If traveling in Amaravati was bad now its worst between Vasco to GTL as just 3 unreserved coaches.

more... GTL situation may improve due to readdition of these two coaches.
I feel SER should send it as a 24 coach train from HWH with 8 coaches dettaching at GTL.
