Many routes on SER and a few corridors are capable of handling 25t axle loads. In practice though, maximum axle load run by IR is 22.82t (CC + 8+2T) and 22.3t on some coal freights. The upcoming DFCs will support axle loads upto 30T.

Converting WAP7 to a 3 stage gear system is not necessary. The 3 stage gear system in WAP5 is not for higher speed. It is required in the WAP5, because the P5 has bogie mounted traction motors. What this means is that when there are irregularities in the track, the wheels' axle and the motor's axle can be come misaligned. To counter this, the P5 has a 3 stage gear box in which the middle gear is flexible and it ensures that the gears are still aligned even if the wheel's become misaligned.
The P7 has a axle hung TM, which means that the motor's axle and the wheels' axles are always perfectly aligned. Thus a 2 stage

gear system is good enough.

All these changes (gear ratio, horsepower) are not needed. Rather than playing around with the existing locos, it makes more sense to develop new locos (preferably, own locos)! :)
--------
Passenger loco
Wheel configuration : Bo-Bo
Power
...
: 8600 HP/6400 kW
Speed : 220 km/h (minimum)
Weight : around 84 tonnes
Axle load : around 21 tonnes
--------
Freight loco
Wheel configuration : Co-Co or 2x Bo-Bo
Power : 9000 HP -12000 HP
Speed : 120-140 km/h (common all over the world)
Weight : 132 tonnes or 2x 88 tonnes
Axle load : 22 tonnes
---------
No freight design loco for passenger from hereon :P

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
