*********Case Study proposing strategy to Modernize WAP-4 for best driving in Indian Railways in the coming Days ********
OPTIMIZED ALGORITHMS FOR EFFECTIVE DRIVING OF TAP CHANGER CONTROLLED ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE WAP 4
IN INDIAN RAILWAYS : A CASE STUDY BASED ON THE PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE OF SHRI BHAWNATH JHA, THE LOCO PILOT OF RAJDHANI IN ALD DIVISION(ALLAHABAD DIVISION) OF NCR
This is a Case Study

on WAP-4(27 Page PDf Document) is being produced here which proves that WAP 4 is capable of Effective Driving with all Rajdhani, Duronto and other Superfast trains. The Loco Pilots has to follow the Driving Algorithms of WAP 4 described here to use this Loco to it's full potential. This case study is prepared by Mr Shayak Bhattacharjee, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, NH-91, Kalyanpur, Kanpur – 208016, Uttar Pradesh.
Contribution for this case study:
This real time study of performance of WAP-4 of various Loco Sheds of Indian Railway with various trains like various Duronto, Rajdhani etc can't be possible without the contribution of Shri Bhawnath Jha, the loco pilot (Rajdhani) of ALD Division, NCR mainly experienced in hauling Rajdhani Trains also presented dozens of run time data sets in this Document of Case Study regarding WAP-4.
Objective of this Case Study of WAP-4:
In this work a strategy is being proposed for driving a tap changer controlled electric locomotive, specifically WAP4, which will result in the highest possible output performance while remaining within the tolerance limits of the voltage and current in the traction motors.
All members of IRI can know the following points from this case study of WAP-4
1 Why WAP 4 is withdrawn from the charge of some important Duronto and Rajdhani Trains and giving to WAP -7
2 Competitors of WAP-4 and their advantages
3 Driving Algorithms of WAP 4 for Loco Pilots to use the Loco to it's Full Potential for both LHB and ICF Coach Trains.(Separate Algorithms for LHB and ICF Coach Trains for the Loco Pilots using WAP 4)
All of you can download this Case Study from this Link: click here
I also attach this document with this blog all of you can download it from there also.
Attached PDF Document:
Case Study on WAP 4/ WAP 4 Driving Algorithm
Please note that this case study is based on the Personal Driving Experience of Shri Bhawnath Jha, the loco pilot (Rajdhani) of ALD Division, NCR mainly experienced in hauling Rajdhani Trains. So it is a very important Case Study I think to answer various issues regarding WAP 4.
This blog can answer all the questions regarding WAP-4 I think.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
