Kerala granted additional Rs 200 crore for railway projects. (A very rare case of kerala being granted funds as a recognition for utilizing all the money allocated in the railway budget. This is the second consecutive year that the state has been been given additional grants for railway projects).The lapsed funds from various parts of the country have been allocated as additional grants to projects that had fully utilized the budget money. Kerala now needs to utilize the additional amount before March 31.
The allocated funds would be used to complete these projects - Angamali-Sabari track (Rs 3 crore); Punalur-Chenkotta guage transfer (Rs 30 crore); Pollachi-Palakkad, Pollachi-Coimbatore guage transfer (Rs 73 crore), doubling of tracks: Mulanthuruthy-Kuruppunthara (17 crore), Chengannur-Chingavanam (Rs 39...
more... crore), Chingavanam-Kuruppunthara (Rs 22 crore), Haripad-Ambalapuzha (Rs 15 crore); Kochuveli terminal second phase development, and one pit line and 2 stabling lines for Ernakulam marshalling yard (Rs 1 crore).
Officials are confident that the additional grant would add an impetus to the various projects.
