* Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Southern Circle, Bangalore, K.J.S. Naidu on Saturday completed the three-day inspection of the newly converted broad gauge track between Vellore Cantonment and Villupuram with a high speed trial.
He, however, said that there were still minor defects along the line, which should be attended to.

more... with railway officials, he carried out high-speed trial on the track by travelling in a train from Villupuram to Vellore Cantonment on Saturday. The train was operated at a speed of 110 kmph. He told reporters that there were small defects but a re-inspection was not necessary. He said that he discussed the issue with railway officials and they need to decide on the timeframe to look into the defects and complete the necessary works.
** Railway officials operated the “speed run of the inspection special” on the newly laid broad gauge track on the Villupuram—Vellore Cantonment section on Saturday.
The train was said to have run at a speed of over 100 kmph.
Interacting with presspersons, Commissioner of Railway Safety K.J.S. Naidu said that the officials were inspecting the 150-km long track for the past three days.
As for stability of the track, he said that certain rectifications would have to be carried out. On commencing passenger service on this section, Mr. Naidu said that it would be decided in consultation with railway officials.
Prior to the speed run, the officials alerted people living near the railway line to stay away from the track and keep cattle at safe distance till the speed run was completed.
