There will be no price hike in tickets as per news source in rail budget 2011.......But I have a suggestion that if the indian railway starts charging for the option to select seats/berths in confirmed ticket as per passenger choice as we get in airlines tickets already....that will increase railway income as well as passengers also will be happy to choose their seats for them and their fellow passengers according to their choice....

thanks all for reply...as u said above some touts may be using the service in negative way but it will be very helpful for old age passengers and as all knows and seen on star news and zee news today u cannot stop touts and illegal agents because corruption is everywhere....waitlisted passengers cannot board the train whereas without ticket can get full berth by giving some 50-100 rs to TTE...u can't stop them...My point is for additional facility to the passengers ....
Nitin, it may amount to taking away with the left hand what IR gives with the right hand. Senior citizens will get a fare concession and then have to pay more for a lower berth, thus nullifying the benefit of the concession nitin
Dear guest u r right but they should charge nominal rates for the service and different slabs for all classes....like we pay Rs. 50 to Airlines for selection of seats....Here the fee should be Rs. 10 for sleeper class which is not too much....
