#EkDinKaSultan - Part 2 (The Signature)
It all started with the Rajdhani; then followed Shatabdi nineteen years later. After that it's like a floodgate got opened. Jan Shatabdi, Sampark Kranti, Garib Rath, Suvidha, Duronto, Yuva, Double Decker, Kaviguru, Rajya Rani, Vivek, Maha Mana, Gatimaan, Tejas, Humsafar, Uday, Antyadaya - all came like a procession. Whoever has become rail minister in last 20- 25 years, has left a signature by these trains. Some of these trains have become flop, some of them have been victimized by politics, some still stand tall. But it is true that signature trains are really colorful- literally by livery or by concept.
A Premier like Rajdhani. Shatabdi. Duronto etc
A Semi- Premier like Jan Shatabdi. Suvidha
A common people oriented like Garib Rath. Antyodaya. Sampark Klanti etc
A refurbished rake concept like Double Decker. Mahamana etc
An improved concept based on older platforms like Tejas/ Gatimaan on Shatabdi. Uday on Double Decker. Humsafar on Garib Rah etc
Entirely new technology like Bullet. Talgo etc
Improvement of an existing concept over Speed/ Service like Operation Swarn. Special Rajdhani
Promoting an existing concept (Please comment)
Upgrading my favourite train to a Signature (Please comment which one)
Any other opinion (Please comment)
Nothing cause I believe Signature concept is already saturated
Nothing cause I believe Signature concept is a gimmick
Concept of Humsafar is excellent but only backdrop is its flexi fare.
Apart from Raj, Shat and Dur ; no other train made such a lasting impact.....
I will start Double Decker Non AC trains as Intercity

May be in 70's.. as my late Nana ji left Patna Secretariat in mid 70's and shifted in Dumka Court as advocate .. us time thi TATA Patna Super.. as per him
And it was the fastest train on that route according to my father. He said that it started from Tata and directly stopped at Asansol, then Jasidih then directly Patna.
HWH-CKP Pass is also quite old.. though I am not sure about its date of introduction.. Senior members may help with it.
