CBE MAQ passenger is the slowest one in the section. PGT division gives least priority to this train.
By converting, they should reduce the number of stops (now 52) and reduce travel time by atleast 2 hrs (as this now runs for about 12 hrs to cover 407kms).

CBE MAQ passenger is little faster than Malabar express in certain stretches!. Why not run a proper MAQ CBE/Salem overnight train, instead of disturbing this popular train?

I support this decision. Infact this train which was numbered 387/88 got introduced as an alternative train when Mangalore Nizamuddin Mangala Exp was made an independent train. Prior to 1992, Mangala ran as a slip train to Kerala exp with bifurcation and amalgamation at Palghat. I personally think it was a mistake on the railways part to introduce this train as a fast passenger. It should have been an express train with the existing stops of the erstwhile Link Mangala Exp.
