Popularly know as the prince of Suburbs and truly lives upto the reputation. This is my home station and find a few tips from my experience:
1. Platforms: There are 4 standard Platforms with two each for Slow and Fast trains. The escalators are on Platform no 1 and 2. PF1 Escalator is on the first bridge towards CST while the PF2 escalator is on the first bridge towards Thane. If you stay at Mulund East and have to board a train from PFs 1, 2, 3 and 4, you have to climb up a bridge (no escalators). 2. Cleanliness: The station is on a medium level when it comes to cleanliness and not something to boast upon.
3. Ticket Counter (UTS): There are three ticket counters available here.
Platform no 1: First entrance towards Thane
Platform no 1: First entrance towards CSTM
Platform no 4: On the bridge (less crowded)
4. Reservation Centre: There is a computerized reservation centre on the Eastern Side. Ask for Mulund RPF Ganesh Temple and the reservation centre is on its way.
5. Announcements and Indicators: The Indicators and Announcement System at Mulund are pretty standard and in a working condition most of the times. Indicators are available on the first overbridge towards CSTM end.
6. Water ATMs: There is a water ATM installed near the first bridge at Thane End on Platform no 1.
7: Places to Visit: a. Chintamanrao Deshmukh Garden: Very famous, well kept and one of cleanest gardens of Mumbai. (5 mins walk from the Station)
b. Cypress Yogi Hill: Nice place to hangout with the yogi hills in the background. (10 mins in an autorickshaw from Station)
c. Mahakavi Kalidas Natyamandir: A famous auditorium where many shows and dramas are conducted
d. Roadside eateries: Delicious food is available at the roadside eateries on the western side. One of its kind Masala Vadapav outside the Kalidas Natyamandir. Taste the infamous Pavbhaji at the market road and Thanda Bhel(Cool) on MG Road (All at a 10 mins walk from Station).
