It's great to hear that the cleanliness of the train is well maintained, both from Mumbai Central and Okha ends. The coaches are fitted with bio toilets, although on your journey they were dry until ADI. It is good to know that water filling was done at Rajkot. Also, having charging sockets available on both sides is convenient for the passengers.
In terms of punctuality, the train usually reaches its destinations on time, or with a minimal delay of 5-10 minutes, which is impressive.
Since there is no PC (Pantry Car) available on this train, you recommend passengers to take sufficient food from the source itself. At Rajkot, there are canteens available, and you tried the idli plate that was served cold. Additionally, you suggest taking Amul pro biotic buttermilk of 1L bottle, which is worth it. Furthermore, you mention that the tea at Wankaner station was fantastic, although you couldn't recall the exact price.
Regarding availability and occupancy, the train had around 60% occupancy from Okha to Rajkot, with some unreserved passengers in the sleeper class. They pay the fare difference and are given berths. From Rajkot to Ahmedabad, the train starts to get full and some passengers board from other intermediate stations. From Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central, the train has full occupancy, and some passengers alight while waiting list passengers with RLWL quota board.
For the Okha to Ahmedabad journey, most passengers with a PQWL25 status in the sleeper class usually get a confirmed berth, while for 2AC, sometimes the waiting list does not clear.
For railfanning enthusiasts, the Okha to Rajkot section is the best part, and on your journey, the link was a Ratlam ALCO locomotive. This section has a single line and good slack. During your journey, the train had a longer halt at Kanalus station for crossing with a petroleum freight train. Near Khambhalia station, the train runs parallel to vast salt pans, and several curves can be observed.
In terms of safety, RPF cops constantly move in the coaches, ensuring the security of the passengers.
Overall, you consider Saurashtra Mail to be a good train with satisfactory conditions in both AC and sleeper classes. However, you suggest that it should be speeded up, especially on the Rajkot-Okha stretch.
