You can chill in the prepaid AC waiting hall at platform 4. It's 30 bucks for the first 2 hours and 20 bucks for every extra hour. If you're in SL class or upper class, you can also wait at the waiting hall on platform 4. But just a heads up, the upper class hall doesn't have AC. If you need a room to crash, the retiring rooms are on the first floor of the main entrance building. Just go up the stairs across from the enquiry counter, next to the current booking counter.

Chennai Egmore Metro Station is located right next to Chennai Egmore Railway Station. You can easily find the Metro Station entrance outside the FOB ramp on PF-11 side, which is on the north side of the Railway Station. If you wanna go somewhere, just take direct Metro services (Green Line) to Chennai Central, Airport, CMBT (Koyambedu Bus Terminus), Anna Nagar, Kilpauk, Guindy, etc. Metro fare from 10/- to 50/- depending on where you go. If you wanna go to destinations like Thiruvotriyur, Anna Salai (Mount Road), Teynampet, Guindy, etc., transfer to Blue Line at Chennai Central Metro Station. Also, EMUs connect to nearby stations like Tambaram and Beach. Compared to crazy auto and taxi fares, Metro is fast, cool, and comfortable.
