Electrification of Bellary – Hosapete – Toranagallu – Ranjithpura (92 Km) was sanctioned by Railway board in 2012-13 at a cost of Rs.139.43 Cr. 69 km of track between Bellary and Hosapete has now been electrified and work is in progress in the remaining section. RVNL is the Executing Agency for the Railway Electrification work of Hospet-Ballari-Guntakal section including Toranagallu-Ranjitpura section. Guntakal-Ballari-Hospet double line BG section is a vital link connecting Guntakal-Renigunta and Wadi-Guntakal section of South Central Railway and South Western Railway. The total RKM is 138. The work commenced in Jan 2018. The cumulative expenditure of the project is Rs.124.73 Cr. Part of the Hospet-Ballari-Guntakal RE project (SCR portion) from Guntakal to Haddinagundu (RKM: 45.01) has been commissioned in February 2019. During this financial year Toranagallu to Hosapete and Hosapete to Gadag are also targeted for electrification Bellary-Hospet section is emerging as a major steel hub with the KPCL Thermal Power Plant at Kudatini. Completion of electrification of this section will be a significant milestone in improving mobility of passenger as well as freight trains on this important route and strengthening Rail network in North Karnataka. Indian Railway is recently pursuing Mission Electrification which will not only speedup operations but also will reduce operational cost significantly. Electric trains are more environment friendly and shift operations of Railway away from fossil fuel. Dependence on diesel and necessity of importing same will reduce. Electric traction allows re-generation of power while braking / carling and feeding the network thereby reducing overall consumption of energy and carbon emission. Reducing carbon footprint this way is a step towards clean and Green earth.

Everywhere (including PR) they are saying electrification between Ballari and Hosapete has been completed. But in reality electrification between Ballari and Toranagallu has been completed. Electrification between Toranagallu and Hosapete is under progress. Electric loco trial run was conducted from Ballari to Daroji. You can see the banner "Ballari (Incl) - Toranagallu (Excl)" in the attached picture for reference

Will help introduce more MEMU trains on route, save commuters along IT corridor a lot of timeThe railway line from Bengaluru to Hosur (50 km) is set to be electrified in 2019. On December 12, Railway Ministry declared that the line, starting from Baiyyappanahalli, will be electrified, as will be four other lines. Railway activists have welcomed the move, which will allow for more Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains to Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) trains on the Bengaluru-Hosur line.More MEMU trainsSrinivas Alavilli, one of the activists in the Modalu Train Beku campaign, says, “The electrification is a big plus because it will help in the addition of more MEMU trains and along with other infrastructure like automatic signalling, the Railways will be able to run more trains on the same tracks. We have very few trains on the Bengaluru-Hosur line now due to lack of signalling infrastructure.”Sanjeev Dyammanavar, rail...

way expert and activist seconds him. “Most of the other lines to be electrified by the Railways are used by goods carriers. But the Bengaluru-Hosur electrification will help the commuters. More MEMU trains can be added on the route during peak hours. Electrified trains have better accelerations due to which delays can be covered up.”Krishna Prasad, railway activist says it is a welcome move. “A number of IT companies have come up in Hosur and Carmelaram. Electrification will mean addition of more MEMU trains for commuters. This line is an integral part of Bengaluru suburban railways. Tenders have also been called for Bengaluru-Hosur line.”Narendranath, who frequently travels to Hosur via suburban trains, says, “The newly procured MEMUs are faster than the DEMUS. Due to lack of electrification, four to five MEMU trains are being underutilised right now. However, augmentation of the capacity will be possible with the doubling of lines.” The line-doubling project has been announced as well and tenders have been called (from Yeshwanthpur to Channasandra and Baiyyappanahalli to Hosur). Hosur is the last legMost of the suburban rail network will be electrified once the work on Bengaluru-Hosur line is complete. Only the Devanahalli and Haasan line remains to be electrified now, say the activists. The Tumkur line will be electrified in two years from now. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is currently working on the electrification of Yeshwanthpur-Hosur line and has laid foundation for electric poles near Bellandur and Carmeleram. This might take two years to complete. RVNL has also issued tender for the electrification of line from Baiyyappanahalli to Omlur (including Hosur). Narendranath adds, “The Yeshwanthpur to KR Puram line has been electrified; the only link required is from Baiyyappanahalli to Hosur. Electrification and doubling of the lines will help save time.” Alavilli adds, “The Hosur line is along the ORR—the big IT belt of Bengaluru. Bellandur Road, Carmelaram and Heelalige and Anekal are all crucial stations on this line. This area also has the highest number of vehicles. Improvement of the suburban network here will be a boon. More halt stations can be added, for instance, Marathahalli station will dramatically change the commute scenario of Bengaluru.”Lines to be electrified in 2019 Bengaluru-Hosur (50 km) • Ballari-Rayadurg (50km) • Hospet-Gadag (85 km) • Hubballi Navalpur (30 km) • Tornagallu-Virapur(55 km)

I feel that if doubling is also carried out, it will be more beneficial rather than only electrification. Crossings take a lot of time and due to speed limitations trains take quite some time from station to another. Best example being Bypl to Carmelaram which takes almost 15-20 minutes.
So doubling would be the best way along with electrification

As said like Mr Sachin it might be Navalur or Navalgund Road but Navalur is not 30km from hubli or if they consider TKM then its 30km upto navalur as doubled line 15+15. If such they should have mentioned Hospet-Gadag as 85+85 TKM but only RKM 85km they mentioned for RE.

BENGALURU: South Western Railway’s

frozen by the board. The Penukonda-Dharmavaram (41.5km) stretch, for which tender was finalised for earthwork, minor bridges and overbridges, will be handed over to RITES Ltd, a government-owned engineering consultancy firm as per railways’ instructions.
“We have submitted estimates for the Toranagallu-Ranjitpura section. But work is held up for want of the board’s sanction. The railways has also recommended freezing of Birur-Shivamogga section. The tender for Penukonda-Dharmavaram section was recently opened, but now the project will be handed over to RITES,” said a senior SWR official.
NS Pradeep Kumar, a rail enthusiast, said: “Toranagallu-Ranjitpura freight section will help in faster movement of iron ore to ports. Doubling of Birur-Shivamogga will bring more trains from Shivamogga to various parts of the state.”
Currently, doubling work is progressing on Hotgi-Kudgi-Gadag (30%), Yelahanka-Penukonda (60%), Hubballi-Chikjajur (45%) and Arasikere-Tumakuru (65%) routes. In a relief for Bengalureans, detailed estimates for Yeshwantpur-Channasandra (21.7km) doubling work will be finalised and tender will be floated soon.
“We have floated a tender for the doubling work on Byappanahalli-Hosur (48km). Similarly, tender for the Bengaluru Cantonment-KR Puram-Whitefield (23.1km) quadrupling project is also being invited,” the official added.

Doubling from BYPL till Yelahanka and YPR Channasandra is a very crucial route.
Hope SWR completes at the earliest. Lots of trains get delayed or are made to wait for long durations for being received and dispatched

The South Central Railway (SCR), which has set a scorching pace in electrification of railway lines in the last couple of years, intends to continue the work with an aim to completely electrify the entire track of about 6,000 km within the next three years.
General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said 600 km was electrified last year and the same length would likely be completed before the end of this financial year.
“We have done about 3,000 km of electrification so far. This year, we have finalised technical bids for about 800 km,
...
while financial bids will be called for another 1,100 km. Survey work for the remaining 1,100 km is on. We aim to complete the last section by March 2022 at the current pace which itself will be a record,” he explained in an exclusive interaction.
It is not just the Railway Board delegating more powers to the GMs that has bolstered his drive towards achieving greater efficiency, but the newly-introduced guidelines of not calling for any work tenders unless the entire pre-project work is completed. It includes detailed project report with complete drawings, technical and financial details and time schedules among others. “We have introduced pre-cast concrete foundation blocks, mechanisation for digging, mast erections and power cabling too to keep up with the time-lines, while ensuring that the civil, signalling, traffic and electric wings work in proper coordination so that normal train services are not effected,” said Mr. Yadav. Incidentally, he was part of the GMs’ working group that recommended the new work guidelines and these have been accepted by the RB, but put into practice countrywide now. Among the key sections likely to be commissioned this year are: Guntakal-Kalluru, Guntakal-Toranagallu, Nallapadu-Pagidipalli, Peddapalli-Lingampet-Jagityal, Manmad-Mudkhed-Dhone, Obulavaripalli-Krishnapatnam and various suburban sections under MMTS Phase-II. In Nallapadu-Guntakal section, Nallapadu-Diguvametta (209 km), Guntakal-Dhone and Gooty-Pendekallu (97 km) and Dhone-Diguvametta (129km) are already done. For Manmad-Mudkhed-Dhone section, the tender is being finalised as of now. For these, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) and Tata Projects are the implementing agencies.
“Electrification helps railways become energy-efficient and faster, reduces operational and maintenance cost, helps in increasing speed, besides reducing dependence on fuel imports,” adds the GM.
