This was originally a passenger-cum-express that was converted to an express and diverted to Tatanagar. That's why it has a lot of halts.

Both SER and ECR are sending proposals every year to railway board to run both these trains as independent trains since traffic has increased significantly. Unfortunately proposal gets rejected every year siting rake issues (this is a daily train) & moreover Tata does not have a full fledged pit line . Hope this is taken on top priority

Thankfully now a days it runs pretty much on time, was notoriously famous for being delayed...If it did come on time it was a miracle... Once when i went to SLO to drop some of relatives surprisingly found it came on time , here was the biggest twist found it was the one which was supposed to arrive the day before so it was 24 hrs late :P

This one is always a roller-coaster. It's punctuality keeps switching between BT and extremely delayed. Thankfully it has been relatively good in recent years.
