Matunga Carriage Workshop rolled out its100thLHB coach after maintenance o­n 12th January 2021 in presence of Shri A.K. Gupta, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Central Railway and other senior officials of Central Railway.

Matunga Workshop team has put in significant efforts for maintenance of LHB coaches, whose fleet o­n Central Railway is rapidly increasing. Despite the COVID pandemic, dedicated Matunga workshop team has continued with its regular outturn work and even covered the backlog of LHB coach maintenance.

माटुंगा केरिज वर्कशाप टीम के महत्वपूर्ण योगदान के फलस्वरूप 100वाँ एल.एच.बी. कोच का मरम्मत कार्य पूरा करके,12 जनवरी 2021 को बाहर निकला। कोविड आपदा काल में भी माटुंगा वर्कशाप टीम ने नियमित कार्यो के साथ साथ, बकाया रहे एल.एच.बी. कोचों की शेडुयल मरम्मत कार्य को पूरा किया। इस अवसर पर श्री ए.के. गुप्ता, प्रधान मुख्य यांत्रिक इंजीनियर एवं मध्य रेलके अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी भी उपस्थित थे।

मध्य रेल मे तेजी से बढ़ रही एल.एच.बी. कोच की संख्या को माटुंगा वर्कशाप की टीम ने रखरखाव में लगातार महत्वपूर्ण प्रयास किये है। माटुंगा टीम द्वारा किए गए गुणवत्तापूर्ण कार्यों की मध्य रेल के महाप्रबंधक श्री संजीव मित्तल ने सराहना की है।

का ‘माटुंगा’ रेलवे स्टेशन काफी सुर्खियों में है। दरअसल, ये देश का ऐसा पहला रेलवे स्टेशन हैं जो सिर्फ महिलओं द्वारा संचालित होता है। इसकी इस खासियत के कारण स्टेशन का नाम लिम्का बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड में दर्ज किया गया है। यह स्टेशन साल 2017 के जुलाई माह से केवल महिलाओं द्वारा चलाया जा रहा है।
इस स्टेशन पर कुल 41 महिलाएं कार्यरत हैं जिनमें 17 बुकिंग क्लर्क, 6 आरपीएफ पर्सनल, 8 टिकट चेकर, 5 प्वाइंट पर्सन, दो रेलवे उद्घोषक और 2 क्लीनिंग स्टाफ शामिल हैं। ममता कुलकर्णी यहां की स्टेशन मैनेजर हैं, जिनकी देखरेख में सभी कर्मचारी काम करती हैं। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार स्टेशन के हर विभाग में सिर्फ महिला कर्मचारियों को ही तैनात किया गया है।
खास बात यह है कि यहां की स्टेशन मैनेजर भी एक महिला, ममता कुलकर्णी हैं। कुलकर्णी ही देश की ऐसी पहली महिला हैं जो साल 1992 में रेलवे में असिस्टेंट मैनेजर बनी थीं। तब उन्हें मुंबई सेंट्रल रेलवे डिविजन में तैनात किया गया था। अब वह माटुंगा में सभी महिला स्टाफ के साथ रेलवे स्टेशन का परिचालन कर रही हैं।
बता दें कि रेलवे स्टेशन के आसपास कॉलेज और पढ़ाई से संबंधित अन्य संस्थान हैं। स्टेशन पर स्टूडेंट्स की संख्या भी ज्यादा होती है। जिसके लिए रेलवे सुरक्षा अधिकारियों ने यात्रियों की सुरक्षा के लिए महिला अधिकारी कर्मचारी नियुक्त करने की मांग की थी।
