MARGAO: The state government will write to the central government to issue a notification invoking compulsory acquisition of land under the Railway Act, 1989, for a track-doubling project in the Mormugao taluka A meeting with the general manager of Rail Vikas Nigam was held at the office of the South Goa collector with reference to the procurement of land for the Madgaon-Vasco track- doubling project of the South Western Railway (SWR) at Cansaulim, Pale, Issorcim, Dabolim, Chicalim and Vasco, and to discuss the invocation of compulsory land acquisition under the Railways Act, 1989.Efforts by the state government to obtain consent of the interested parties to the proposal of land procurement for the Madgaon-Vasco doubling project of the SWR have failed despite multiple attempts to convince the parties to give consent to the move.An official press note said a number meetings were held with parties who had filed objections to the acquisition
Any Plan to Double Track the Below Section --- Kulem -- Dudh Sagar --- Castle Rock. Rest Entire Section Doubling and Electrification is OnGoing. Only this Particular Section is Single Electric Track.
As of now only electrification will happen in Braganza section
Bit difficult, can be taken in the end of this entire doubling section.
Good step by Goa Government.
Every two hours on average, a freight train pulls out of Mormugao Port, 6 km from Vasco. Each of its 58 wagons is covered with blue tarpaulin, the edges of which flap in the breeze, revealing what lies underneath — about 65,000 kg of coal, the toxic black dust hanging in the air like a shroud over each wagon.
This train sets off on an 18-hour, 352-km journey eastward to Karnataka’s Toranagallu in Bellary district, home of JSW Group’s steel and captive power plant.
The Indian Express tracked over a dozen such trains
Now this is the reason why doubling is at fast pace and why we can't get new trains on braganza ghat until doubling completes.
Hamid is station master, signalman, ticket vendor, ticket collector and sweeper; he only drinks whiskey through the day to pass time; station has become hub for anti-social elements
DABOLIM: No one is for this Dabolim. No one fights for this this piece of Dabolim, to improve it, to preserve it, to make it fit for use. And yet this Dabolim is right next to the Dabolim airport, rotting, a den of anti-socials but “looked after” by just one man- the station master of Dabolim railway station.
Trains still run through and some passengers
What piece of writing is this?
Is it to praise or deride the SM?
Lol. Nowhere is he criticised for finishing a bottle of whiskey during a day's work, while at the same time drug addicts, alcoholics are shown to be a problem for the station. :P
Also I strongly feel that SWR themselves should be blamed for this thing first of all Dabolim railway station is in a very poor conditions often neglected by SWR just like other stations on Londa Vasco route. There are not many passenger trains plying the route. At small stations such as Dabolim only the three pairs of Vasco Kulem Vasco passengers have a brief one minute halt. SWR should pay proper attention to this route too just like others they should fire the above station master and appoint one responsible person here at this station.
