For the list he has asked for diversion, It is so easy for him to simply place demand without probably checking . Trains like KCVL-Mysore, NDLS-TVC Kerala express, mostly ends up getting filled in KL itself. Sometimes these are the reasons why RB never bothers to even consider these demands when MP's send letters.

It is better SR Salem division start new trains from Coimbatore to various destinations like Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, etc., instead of depending on Kerala originating trains.
If you analyse carefully, no good train to these places. To avoid, what is done is whichever train available at nearby points are dragged towards Erode, Coimbatore. When Salem Karur line was not there, MV MYS, TN MYS, DR NCJ, CSTM NCJ etc used to go via Erode. Now, shorter route available, but not used. Even when shorter route is selected, TT is not changed/ stoppage not given to places in shorter route, leading to such trains blocking platforms and lines elsewhere.
...

MAS PGT was initially MAS PLNI and extended to POY and ended up in PGT. Basically, this was meant to connect Namakkal to Chennai, but see the timings and quota for Namakkal!

CSTM NCJ via Namakkal takes more running time than many other trains via Erode (with loco reversal), but has no stop at Namakkal!!. Irony.

Rightly said. When Salem division was formed somewhere around 2007, which was exerted using political influence, many thought that CBE would end up having more pit lines, new trains as you mentioned. Nothing has changed in all these years and not much benefit has happened with the new division as such. CBE doesnt have infra to add more trains it seems. No wonder train like 11013 LTT-CBE which can easily reach CBE around 5/5:30am is received late since other PF are engaged with few other terminating trains.

A1 stations still will get the same funding. If u check the facility given to the NSG 2 stations then u can easily correlate it with the facilities given to A1 stations
NSG 1 category has been given such criteria to differentiate the mega stations of India in terms of footfall and revenue generation. As per the older A, A1 criteria, a station with 60cr revenue used to be the placed in the same category as that of a station with 2000cr earning station. Most probably, to differentiate between the two and to provide better fund to the bigger stations like NDLS, MAS, HWH, CST, etc, the critieria of NSG 1 has been kept so high

The A1 criteria was changing regularly
Last time it was ₹75 Cr then ₹100 Cr(if i am not wrong)
Putting Footfall in this was most tricky clause as it was introduced to help Suburban stations who gets very less revenue but very high footfall.
A station serving whole India passengers remained in Cat2
The

motive is quite visible !
Furthermore keeping ₹500 Cr is also very high mark Naturally only state capitals get Lions share on the name of state no matter from where passenger comes to board.
Patna is one of the best example .

No the criteria for A1 station was not changed. Criteria and station categories are changed after every 5 year. Last time it was 60cr for A1 station and 8cr for A station
/blog/post/3305282 - u can refer to the 4th and 5th pic. This is a RTI reply done by some member where previous and new classification has been mentioned

Karnataka has
coastal area - Mangalore, Udupi, Murudeshwara, Gokarna, Karwar, etc
Hill / forest areas - Madikeri, Nagarahole, Agumbe, Chikmagalur, Dandeli, Bandipur, etc
Historical places - Mysore, Hampi, Pattadakal, Bijapur, Kittur, Chitradurga, etc
Pilgrim
...
centres in South Canara, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Mysore, etc.
However, tourists wishing to travel by train will find it totally inconvenient as the state gets serviced by 6 zones - SWR, SR, CR, SCR, KR and newly created SCoR - with no coordination and haphazard linkages/ routes between them.

Karnataka and Rajasthan winning is understandable, but cannot believe no one voted for Meghalaya, Arunachal.
My ranking for some of the below states would be as follows -
1. Karnataka ( has eveything in terms of diversity)
2. Uttarakhand + Himachal Pradesh (only one word, Heaven)
3.
...
Meghalaya ( + other NE sister states) (nature's wonder)
4. Rajasthan (desert safari and incredible forts)
5. Madhya Pradesh (again a diverse state)
6. Maharashtra
7. Gujarat ( including UTs Dadra and Nagri Haweli, Daman and Diu)
8. Goa (People might rate it higher, but only couples and bachelors seem to enjoy Goa more, if you know what I mean)
Have not visited other states so cannot comment, but Kerala, J&K + Ladakh and Orissa might easily have been on the list.
