Last few words are best to describe such loose schedule
Run an Intercity on the same route with a 4 hour time table and you'll see the same "poverty stricken" people paying 100 bucks for that. 😂😂
You need to understand the ground reality here, no one's that poverty stricken they just don't have options.

Another reason is that there is a 3-4 halt between every two station. Stopping at every halt make things worse. Every body wants door to door service by railways.
How can high average be expected in such condition
How can high average be expected in such condition
Just for example : all trains from Kota to Kanpur/Lucknow are aren't punctual and slow ... with absolute no ticket availability (humsafar is always regret listed from kota) .... That's why almost 10 volvos (as per redbus) run daily between kanpur/Lucknow - Kota .... People do comfortable overnight & faster bus journey with punctuality
