Request for Extension of trains seems to be one sided. Extension of Gomateshwara express (YPR MAJN) and Matsyaganadha ((LTT MAQ) to Kannur are bizarre demands. These are the only trains beneficial for Mangalore public.
There were demands for a Bangalore train from Kozhikode or Kannur. But surprisingly this demand is not figuring out in the list.
Concerned Mangalore public should demand extension of Parasuram to Bangalore as ONT and Maveli to Bangalore as daytime train. Extension of BJP MAJN and CSMT MAJN SF to MAQ should necessarily be done.

Kannur executive express can go upto Udupi/ Kundapura via MAJN. Strictly no more Trivandrum trains from Mangalore, as already 5 daily trains are there which spoil any effort to get a Karnataka train into Mangalore. Shifting 2 Chennai trains and 2 Trivandrum trains to MAJN should be done on immediate basis.

Better demand a 3 pitlined terminal at Kasargod or Manjeshwar so that most Kerala trains from Mangalore can be terminated there. PGT divn should stop just focussing on Mangalore, because someday or the other, Mangalore will be transferred to either SWR or KR with political influence and demand from KA public. Extension of trains like Gomateshwara and Matsyagandha is just futile, as they are dedicated trains for Mangalore. Also the extension of Kozhikode JS and executive is impractical.

There is no proper base for all these demands. Just extend from here to there. It is just a demand of the season ticket passenger association mainly. They think railway runs with season ticket collection. So some MEMU/passenger can be run for their convenience.

Some other genuine demands are there not ignoring them, like speedup, signalling, platform, pitlines etc.

PGT divn is just too overdependent on MAQ and so it ignores all the projects in other areas.

Correct. Hopefully when the pit line work gets completed at MAQ they should ideally be able to get trains like CSMT-MAJN and few other intra state trains (KAR) to MAQ. Also when more platforms get added ( 2 additional ones getting added) ideally we should see more intra state trains. As rightly mentioned, the more PGT division keeps over depending on MAQ, it will only create more issues. Its only a matter of time that some reorg may happen and it moves either to KR or SWR
