When such Dussera event is being done close to railway tracks, probably they should have had some public announcement done regularly warning people to be careful and always keep a watch on any train movements. Some news channels are trying to blame the driver for not honking, not applying emergency brakes etc on seeing so many people.
Not sure if the driver could really have done anything quickly apart from applying emergency brakes.

Impractical, functions were held close to rail tracks, not on railway tracks, and obviously there could have been some announcement as well as inner conscience of the people, that could stop them from being on tracks.

When there are big accidents/incidents, it is seen that the mainstream news media often gets the train number, station and other info wrong. For this particular instance, the train number given out by many news outlets is 74943 - Jalandhar-Nakodar DEMU, which does not even go to ASR. All news links in IRI are now tagged as 74643 - Jalandhar-Amritsar DEMU, which seems to be the correct train.

Yes Sir, train was 74643 only and after placed at pf no. 3 of Amritsar. 13050 Asr Howrah Exp just escaped few minutes before slowly slowly bcoz of TSR.
