BELIEVE IT OR NOT
In November 1975 there were no direct trains from Mumbai to Bihar. The only trains offering connections to Bihar were the following:
A) 4Dn Bombay-Calcutta Mail via Allahabad (now running as train number 12322) stopping at Sasaram, Dehri-on-Sone, Gaya, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Gomoh and Dhanbad with a total running time of 39 hrs 45 mns
B) 41Up(CR)/68Dn Bombay-Howrah Janata Express via

Allahabad (since withdrawn) stopping at Buxar, Ara, Bihta, Danapur, Patna Junction, Patna City, Fatuha, Bakhtiyarpur, Barh, Mokama, Kiul, Jamui, Jhajha, Jasidih, Madhupur, and Jamtara with a total running time of 47 hrs 45 mns
Today 36 years later we have the following direct train services from Mumbai to stations in Bihar.
A) 19039 Tri-weekly Bandra(T)-Muzzafarpur Avadh Express
B) 11059 Tri-weekly Mumbai LTT-Chhapra Godaan Express
C) 11061 4 days a week Mumbai LTT-Muzaffarpur Express
D) 11065 Tri-weekly Mumbai LTT-Darbhanga Express
E) 15268 Weekly Mumbai LTT-Raxaul Jansadharan Express
F) 12336 Tri-weekly Mumbai LTT-Bhagalpur Express
G) 13202 Mumbai LTT-Rajendranagar Express
H) 19049 Weekly Bandra(T)-Patna Express
I) 12141 Mumbai CST-Rajendranagar Express
J) 12546 Weekly Mumbai LTT-Darbhanga Karmabhoomi Express
K) 15102 Weekly Mumbai LTT-Chhapra Jansadharan Express
I may have missed out a few of the current trains. So others can add to it if there are omissions. I have also excluded trains to Ranchi which is now part of Jharkhand. AND YET WITH SO MANY TRAINS NOW FROM MUMBAI TO BIHAR, THEY ALL RUN PACKED.
