Rail fanning clicks today at MDU (07/12/18)
Surprised to see Royapuram's first 39*** series loco RPM WAP7i 39000 (HOG) made by Diesel Loco Modernisation Works (DLMW) with 12638 Pandian SF Express at MDU jn pf2...coz of FOB works and a new lift is being installed at pf1....so till dec 13th pf 1 will be out of service....so pandian is departing from pf2....!!
Actually i was returning from my office to home by office bus....while crossing MDU jn by 19.10 hrs i noticed pandian with 39000...so got down from bus, went into rly station...

one of the steepest BG sections of IR, an Indian engineering marvel, a section that descends drastically from some 889 m to 114 m, the numerous tunnels and bridges, the hardworking IR men who brave the wild animals, leeches and rain to keep the section working, the intermediate stations - totally cut off from the world and having to depend on the passing trains for everything.....
But the thing that comes foremost to the mind is the mesmerising beauty of the dense forest and the mountains that this line cuts through. It will leave you speechless.

And SWR has done one of the few right decisions by giving this train LHB rake. Some ____ commented that this train doesn't "deserve". As if they are the ones to decide.
They need to travel through this section to know the continuous curves winding down/up the gradient and the strain it puts on the couplers. If any train "deserves" it ..... then it is this and other trains on this section, which will give them added safety.
