Proposed Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram Shatabdi Express from January 2017 :
There were no talks regarding proposed Kannur-Trivandrum new Shadabdi Express, which was promised to Chief Minister by the Railway Ministry. Two months back, when the new Southern Railway General Manager visited the Chief Minister, this train was also discussed. Till now, there is no further action/discussion regarding this train. As there were only 8 stops in between, this train can reach the Destination within just 7.5 hours, as compared to 8 hours(Rajdhani Exp) or 9.5hrs(Jan-Shatabdi). If this train runs via Alappuzha, again 10 Minutes plus 12km can be saved.

Rename this Railway Station to Perinthalmanna. As this railway station is just 2 or 3km away from Perinthalmanna National Highway Junction, it is better to have the name of Perinthalmanna Town for this Railway Station, than Angadipuram. As Perinthalmanna is the largest , fastest developing and most important city in Malappuram District, the City's name itself shall be given to this Railway Station, rather than the name of the village.
Remove the name "Road" from this Station Name. Just rename this Railway Station as "Nilambur". This Station is well within Nilambur Town. Normally, the "Road" name will come if the Railway Station is much far away from the Town, such as Kodaikanal Road Station(80km away), Nadapuram Road Station(14km away), etc. Even Irinjalakuda Railway Station is 9km far away from Irinjalakuda Town, still the Railway Station's name is just Irinjalakuda.
#Admin Please change the airport to Kannur (CNN) in the IRI.
Also for all the stations between Kanhangad to Thikkoti.

This proposal is really great and useful for thousands of passengers from Karwar/Udupi/Mangalore/Hassan/Kannur, who can save around 80 kilometers in running distance and saving 2 hours in rake/loco reversals at Hassan & Mysore, plus long halting time. Also, departure from Kannur shall be 6.25PM, instead of 4.30PM for saving 2 hours which is being wasted for the past 10 years. But, it will negatively affect passengers to Mysore, Mandya, Maddur, etc from Karwar, Udupi, Mangalore, Hassan, areas where there are a considerable number of passengers in these routes. As there is hardly no passenger traveling in this train from Kannur/Kasargod to Mysore/Mandya, this decision will not affect passengers from Malabar, as they are using much faster buses for these area. In order to solve this issue, a new Express Train from Mumbai to Mysore(7AM arrival at Mysore) need to be introduced via Mangalore, which will serve as...
