This is w.r.t PNR: 6200154171 and is a Tatkal ticket. The number of passengers booked under this PNR was 4 and got WL 16,17,18,19. However with time, it pushed up and the first passenger got confirmed, while the rest of them were CKWL 1,2 and 3 (after chart preparation).
Even after chart preparation, the IRCTC website kept showing all tickets available for cancellation - yes, including the confirmed passenger. I could not understand whether I should manually cancel the 3 WL passengers or whether they would be automatically cancelled and money refunded. one) with clerkage charges only. But since there is no clear definition of how much clerkage is applied for what, I felt what if I cancel the confirmed passenger also and they deduct 100% of the confirmed passenger?
In all this confusion, I cancelled the 3 WL passengers and to my surprise, I was shown a deduction of Rs. 180 as clerkage charges i.e. Rs. 60 per passenger. However my belief and understanding was that if the refund was to be done automatically - they would not deduct any clerkage charges, is that true. So just because I myself pressed that Stupid button - they deducted Rs 180?
Why are we not shown any confirmation of charges screen before going ahead for it finally, just like in any other service? Why do they get to decide how much they want to deduct without any approval of the passenger? Is making such a system too tough for railways?
Also - there is no clarity on whether a partially confirmed ticket - all passengers can be cancelled only by paying normal clerkage charges (i.e. Rs. 60 or Rs. 120 depending on class)?
