PRESENT STATUS: ● Recently, Architectural Plan for SCoR Zonal Headquarters has been submitted for scrutiny of Railways by the Architect.





It has come to the notice of Railways that some newspapers published news regarding proposed South Coast Railway which misleads readers and common people. This news stated that, “Railway Zone is not possible. Clarification by the Railway that establishing Visakhapatnam as a center is not profitable. Hopes are gone. (Announcement o­n South Coast Zone in February 2019)”.





It is clarified that, South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone would comprise of existing Guntakal, Guntur & Vijayawada Divisions and part of Waltair Division to be merged with Vijayawada Divisions. Balance portion of Waltair to be made a new Division with HQ at Rayagada under East Coast Railway (ECoR). South Central Railway would comprise of existing Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Nanded Divisions.





On the issue of formation of new Railway Zone with its HQs at Visakhapatnam, it is to bring to your kind notice that subsequent to the Government Approval for setting up of the New Railway Zone viz. South Coast Railway SCoR), Officer o­n Special Duty (OSD) was posted at Visakhapatnam and directed to undertake planning and preparatory work for formation of New Zone.





Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted by OSD/SCoR for setting up of New Zone which is currently under review. An Umbrella Work titled “Creation of New South Coast Railway Zone and New Rayagada Division in East Coast Railway” was also included in Budget 2020-21 at an estimated cost of Rupees 170 Crores.





Land pocket for construction of SCoR Zonal HQs Office Complex has been identified. In order to Fast-Track the process, Railways has also been directed to take up suitable work for preliminary activities like land Survey, Preparation of complete lay-out plan of SCoR/HQs Office Complex, Residential colonies and other construction prerequisites. Recently, Architectural Plan for SCoR Zonal Headquarters has been submitted for scrutiny of Railways by the Architect.





This news article has been published in some newspapers without knowing the actual facts which is creating bad image of Railways.
