The Jharkhand state government is trying hard to convert Ranchi into a Railway zone that will cover the entire state. Currently the state is covered under 3 separate zones that are headquartered in other states :
South Eastern Railway - Kolkata (WB)
Eastern Railway - Kolkata (WB)
East Central Railway - Hajipur (Bihar)

Raghubar Das has sent a letter of recommendation to the Railway minister with concerns and explanations around this request. He has explained how several critical railway projects have been delayed just because the zonal head quarters don't pay full attention to Jharkhand. A local zone will prevent such roadblocks and will prove fruitful for the development of the state.
In my opinion, these points are valid. Either the South Eastern Railways HQ be shifted to Jharkhand or a new zone be created. Requesting fellow IRFians to share their opinion. #NewZone

if jharkhand gets another railway zonal office then bihar and other states will also demand another zonal office.i dont know about freight earning from dhanbad.only tatanagar has enough annual passenger earning.all major city of bihar like patna , Bhagalpur,muzaffarpur,darbhanga and gaya has more annual revenue than dhanbad and ranchi.even in bihar the area is covered by 4 zonal office viz ER,ECR,NFR and that gkp zone.so this should not be reason.it is not like rajdhani exp that every state is bound to get it.regarding delay about 90% project of ir is delayed all over india.

u dont know the real picture of jharkhand' annual pasenger earning of major stations are given below
1 Tatanagar junction(117 cr) 2 DHN (52 cr) 3 RNC+HATIA(47CR) dhn barely crosses the marks to be qualified for a-1 category.dbg has very les no compared to dhn but it caters to 3 times the pop of dhn.biggest joke on the earth u are comaring that small city rnc to pnbe.get out of ur dreams and open ur eyes man.pop of bihar is 4 times the pop of jharkhand so naturally bihar wil get moretrains.u can ask for more freight trains.here u are acting more of as pro bengali.click here yopu will get the data.just dont compare jharkhand with big states like bihar,up compare

cr respectively total earnings comes to around 217 cr.now open ur eyes and feel the difference.regarding ur question on shatabdi from patna is that distance of major cities of patna is less(BGP-230 KM,MFP-89 KM,DBG-120 KM) SO DO U THINK IR will run shatabdi on such short diastance.now as patna rail bridge is completed soon a new dd or shatabdi will be there for lucknow.u must also note that setting up a seperate zone is not feasible because it requires large sum of money.on brighter side u can ask for more trains,project etc that will be good.railway projects are delayed all over india it is not particular to jharkhand or any other state.
Trivia: name any other station from where rajdhani/shatabdi origiantes but the station has less revenue than ranchi?

This week has been so far great for MFP, first the announcement of new train from MFP to HWH & now the NEWS are coming that from 1st June PPTA-LTT and PPTA-PUNE express will be extended upto MFP. These were the urgent need of MFP & whole of North Bihar. As both of the trains which will be extended upto MFP from PPTA will travel through MGS route, it will take less time to reach MUMBAI & PUNE respectively.

Travelled in this train today. A few observations.
*Cleanliness was excellent. I really mean excellent.
*Staff courtesy was stellar. Pay them twice as much as what they are being paid. No exaggeration. I chose C7 under coach id in current booking and was thus the only passenger onboard that coach. Two attendants approached me and requested if I could shift over to C6 for better management of services and I obliged. All this while, they used 'Sir' to describe me to each other. The female attendants serving meals asked meal preferences before serving.

They always had a smile on their faces which was a welcome change from the grumpy and mannerless staff on some premium trains.
*Punctuality was spectacular. 4 minutes before time at Agra.
*Patronage was great considering the premium fares and this being just the second run.
*Speed was well... I don't need to describe it, do I?
*Food was again excellent but a bit too much if one opts for non veg. Non veg option means one will get the veg platter plus an additional Omelette, boiled veggies and chicken/potato cutlets.
Overall, it was definitely a worthwhile experience for me after travelling more than 2000 kilometers just to experience the Gatimaan ride.
