Kannur Railway Station Requires the following facilities on urgent basis :
1. 2 nos. of Escalators : One escalator from existing platform#1 to future platform#4, for the existing footover bridge from platform 4 to platform 1 at north side. The other escalator from the south sidebe, beween platform#1` to platform#4. Tender procedures are already taken for these escalators, but public interference is required for the speedy completion(click here

Construction of Platform#4 with a faclity to accommodate trains with 26 coaches and concrete tracks&drainage.
3. Extension of the new building at platform#4 with waiting rooms, shops & restaurants.
4. Construction of pitline. If pitline is completed, many trains can be extended upto Kannur and TVC-CAN Janshatabdi can be converted into a daily train. It was decided around 10 years back, but no action taken by anyone anywhere. No active pressure from any side till now. Kannur deserves to have the next pitline than any other stations in Kerala.
5. Concreting of the existing railway tracks(with drainages), instead of crushed stone aggregates. This will reuqire stopping the operations of the particular tracks/platforms for around one month. So, in order to avoid this delay, platform#4 shall be constructed on a war footing with concrete/drainage. So platform#4 can be utilized as spare platform during the concreting of other three platforms. This is required for keeping good hygienic conditions of the Railway Station. Existing system with crushed stone aggregate creates a lot of hygienic issues including germs, flies, mosquitoes & rats, especially during monsoon and septic water & waste from the trains are spread over the tracks creating horrible situations.
6. Construction of waiting room for Militay/Paralmilitary presonnel, as Kannur is home to many working in Military and also
home to DSC, Territorial Army, Coast Guard Acadamy, Naval Academy, CRPF, etc.
7. Restoration of at-least one Reservation counter at Platform#1, which can be utilized for the people staying at the West side of the Railway Station including Cantonment. As it will not cost any additional financial burden to the Railways as the rooms and facilities were already existing.
Eventhough budget is over, the same can be implemented by the ministry, if there is will and public pressure.

Witnessed awesome speed between delhi and bhopal... Touched 144km/h max.
